Download our Mobile Banking Best Security Practices guide
To sign up for FREE Mobile or Text Banking†, you need three things:
- You need to be a CashRewards customer. If you don't have this account, sign up today.
- You need to be enrolled in Online Banking. If you haven't enrolled in Online Banking, click here to sign up.
- You need a smartphone, cell phone or other mobile device with an active data plan and Web browsing capabilities.
Getting Started.
It's quick and easy to get started with Mobile Banking and Text Banking.
From any cell phone or mobile device, head to the Mobile Banking page of MBVT.com.
From there, enter your user ID and password. Click the Log In button and you should be good to go.
OR
If you're already an Online Banking customer, simply download the Merchants Bank Mobile app and log in as you would for Online Banking. If you aren't an Online Banking customer, sign up today.
†Mobile Banking is an included feature of CashRewards Checking. Any non-CashRewards Checking customers will be charged a $3.00 per month fee for the service. If you are a Free Checking for Life® customer and you would like to receive this service for free, stop by or call one of our branches to learn more about switching to our benefits-packed CashRewards Checking.

How does Mobile Web Banking work?
From a mobile device with Web browsing capabilities and an active data plan, all you have to do is open a browser and enter Merchants Bank's URL (e.g. www.mbvt.com) to access the Merchants Bank mobile banking home page.
Enter your user ID and password - the same you use for Online Banking - and select the Log In button. No separate or different registration is required. Answer any additional security questions (if needed) then select the Continue button to access Mobile Web Banking. Once logged in, you can:
- Access Your Accounts – the Mobile Web Banking experience is virtually the same as online banking, although on a smaller screen.
- Pay Bills – you must first register and set-up your payees / billers on a PC before utilizing bill payment through mobile banking.
- Make Transfers – you must have more than one account on Online Banking for this functionality to be available on mobile banking.

What does Mobile Web Banking cost?
Mobile Web Banking from Merchants Bank is available for FREE to CashRewards Checking customers using the Personal Online Banking platform, but you are required to subscribe to a data plan through your wireless provider. You should check with your wireless provider if you aren't sure whether additional fees might apply.

How do I make a payment using my phone?
How do I make a payment using my phone?
Select the Bill Pay tab and review the Pay from account (to change it, select another account from the dropdown field and select the Change button). Then select a payee name link from the list and enter the Amount of the payment and the date to send / deliver the payment (as mmddyyyy) then select the Pay button. A confirmation message is then displayed, select OK (or Submit) to continue.

On the transfer tab you can enter an immediate transfer between your accounts using the Transfer Now feature. Or to schedule a future transfer, use the Schedule Transfer link.

Will Text Message Banking work on my phone?
Will Text Message Banking work on my phone?
Yes it will, as long as you have text messaging enabled with your mobile carrier and use a carrier that the service supports. Please check with your mobile carrier if you are unsure.

How do I deactivate the Text Message Banking service?
How do I deactivate the Text Message Banking service?
You can text back "stop" to 454545 on your activated cell phone, or you can return to the mobile banking page and click the Deactivate link next to your mobile device number. Your phone will no longer receive any text messages from Mobile Banking. You can add a new phone at any time if you change your mind later.

Yes. The keywords are:
- STOP = Deactivate service
- HELP = Help on keywords
- BAL = Primary account balance
- BAL CHK = Checking account balances
- BAL SAV = Saving account balances
- BAL ALL = All account balances
- LAST = Last 5 transactions
- TRANS = Transfer funds to primary account
